The 1950s, World War II had ended, the decade of consumerism began and the Illustrator and Graphic Designer hybrid emerged, TheDesigner-Illustrator. These artists had a modern artistic outlook. Their work, unlike the realistic approach of the illustrators that preceded them, was charming whimsical, stylishly simplified and almost always, clever. This thesis will take a closer look at The Designer-Illustrator’s unique ability to straddle both professions in all areas of design.
